In 1968, while still dancing professionally, Lilia Bertelli’s attention turned to teaching and research in the various disciplines of dance and movement. After she received a diploma from the National Academy of Rome in 1975 and from the Royal Academy of Dancing of London in 1978, her interests and studies in dance began to flourish. She began to renovate the theory and teaching methodologies, allowing her the opportunity to achieve ourstanding results in the formation of young dancers. Many of Madame Bertelli’s students have moved on to various renowned ballet companies throughout the world.
L”Associazione Culturale Centro Studi Danza, founded in 1971, with the cooperation and commitment of other qualified professionals in education and dance, will allow Lilia Bertelli’s legacy to survive. This association has been able to educate and form students through the use of music, movement and body expressions, preparing these young thriving artists for a career in professional dance.
Madame Bertelli’s commitment to dance did not stop there. She established the Dance Movement Therapy, which gave birth to the Centro Toscano di Arte e Danze Terapia, where dance is now being used as an Art for Healing.
